The Manufacturing AI Research Center was newly established on January 1, 2024, as a direct organization under the Vice President of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. It aims to concentrate capabilities on developing an AI platform for the "AI-based innovation in manufacturing" initiative, promoting the rapid dissemination of the developed platform, and fostering in-house AI experts.
At Unite Seoul 2026, Dr. Hong-In Won presented a Unity-based digital-twin pipeline for manufacturing AI. The presentation introduced a testbed-grounded approach for generating synchronized multimodal data for human–robot collaboration scenarios, connecting real-world observations, calibration, and synthetic-data generation.
The public presentation described two testbed-grounded scenarios and more than 100,000 synchronized multimodal frames with machine-readable annotations for AI development and validation. The video above is the KITECH Manufacturing AI Research Center introduction shown for the session.
